Marc L.
Private tutor in Hamden, CT
Education
University of Vermont - Bachelor of Arts, Political Science
Experience
I recently earned my bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in American Politics at the University of Vermont in Burlington. I have been teaching and tutoring since I graduated, and I am now a classroom math teacher at a high school in New York. Prior to my current teaching position, I have also acted as a substitute teacher and ESL tutor. I developed an extensive knowledge base of math courses and concepts when studying social science research in college. I have accumulated knowledge in many subjects during my education, although my skill in the French language stems from growing up in a French-speaking home in Maine. When I tutor, I like to keep a relaxed environment, and I am very flexible and accommodating. I plan my lessons well, but I adjust them frequently to accommodate how quickly a student is advancing and if I feel a different teaching style is needed to accommodate their learning style. I also tailor my lessons to fit students' passions and interests. When not teaching or tutoring, I love exploring my new city. While the city life can be a bit overwhelming to me at times, I do love checking out the local events, parks, and neighborhoods. I also enjoy trying new local restaurants.
