ExperienceI have taught (and tutored) at public and private institutions (university, secondary and junior high school levels in the U.S. and England) that have included Harvard Business School and Brandeis University. In 2009-10 I tutored a Yale graduate student from Japan who needed help polishing his use of English. I have read in depth in a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences and evolutionary theory. For many years I worked as a free-lance writer in the software industry. Because this site limits what I can type in the box for my hourly rate, I will note here that my rate starts at $50 and goes up depending on the level of help I'm providing.
HobbiesMy teaching style mixes humor, informality, and supportive feedback, addressing students as individuals and with the sense that we both want them to succeed and improve their critical thinking. I have considerable background in theater, including acting and teaching acting, and I once taught high school math.
